Installation Bracket Aids Install of Conveyor Dust Suppression Ring

We've introduced a family of adjustable mounting brackets for the popular DustBoss® DB-R series of dust suppressors.

Developed in direct response to customer feedback, the new bracket design is available to suit the entire range of ring sizes from 42-72 inches, and can be installed in about an hour. The DB-R is engineered specifically for use at conveyor discharge points, designed to create a curtain of mist around the material flow for outstanding particle containment.

Because of the wide variation in conveyor designs, in the past we've left the mounting of the rings to the individual customer. But it was clear that customers looked to us for guidance. So now we've designed an adjustable bracket that can fit virtually any conveyor design, with movable arms to allow precise location of the atomized mist circle to match the specific conveyor, material and outflow.

First developed for a coal application, the DB-R fully encircles the discharging material to apply suppression directly as the flow exits the conveyor. With no moving parts, the simple yet effective engineering delivers focused dust suppression on a continuous-duty basis, able to capture fugitive particles on radial stackers and other offloading points with a durable, intrinsically safe design. The solution is straightforward but effective, and customers are finding that it’s well suited to conveyor discharge of sand, aggregates, biomass and other traditionally dusty materials.

For some bulk material handlers, it can be a very affordable alternative to more extensive dust management tactics. Larger operations are finding that the source-point suppression of the DB-R is the perfect complement to their open-area dust control measures.

The DB-R is currently available in nine standard sizes (17-100 in / 43.2-254 cm) in diameter. Available options for the DB-R include a booster pump to elevate low water pressures, a variety of nozzle sizes / configurations, and water filtration.

How An Effective Dust Control Solution Can Improve Safety on Your Site

May 9, 2024

Outdoor airborne dust used to have a simple solution: require workers to wear an N95 mask or respirator. Easy, right? However, that doesn’t take into consideration several factors such as proper use of the mask, correct and consistent upkeep, and monitoring usage. Not that masks are a bad solution – they’re called Personal Protective Equipment

February 28, 2024

In response to input from customers across the demolition and bulk material handling sectors, the leader in atomized mist technology has introduced a powerful new mobile mid-sized dust control cannon.  The DustBoss® DB-45 Surge® is the next iteration of the popular Surge series featuring an innovative pressurized center nozzle paired with the industry-proven fan and

Asbestos Dust: How to Reduce Health Risks Not Just Found in Construction

December 7, 2023

Many people don’t realize that asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that has been mined and applied for different uses by humans for several millennia.  With tough fibers, items containing asbestos were found to be resistant to heat, electricity, and corrosion.  In Northern Europe, clay pots dating back to 2500 BC contained asbestos to strengthen

6 Ways Fugitive Dust Control Can Help Your Bottom Line

October 6, 2023

Justifying the purchase of any equipment should be accompanied by a real-world assessment of how it impacts the bottom line. If the goal is improving air quality from potentially harmful fugitive dust emissions in workplaces and communities, then investing in a mist cannon is an excellent consideration. The compliance and legal exposures are enough to

Silica dust exposure is dangerous: Here’s how OSHA / MSHA can help protect

September 6, 2023

In 2023, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced new rules regarding Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) dust emissions, marking a major adjustment to how to address the top silica dust exposure hazards in the workplace from ports to mines to construction sites.[1] This quickly follows a similar announcement by the U.S. Mining Safety

How To Create an Effective Dust Management Plan

April 20, 2023

A dust management plan (DMP) is very specific to the industry and application. For example, a quarry’s needs may look vastly different from that of a building demolition site. First off, they produce a disproportionate volume of dust and often operate in contrasting environments (rural vs. urban).  Each application produces varying types of dust and
