Industry Awards: NDA

John Adamo and Edwin Peterson
n March, DCT's CEO Edwin Peterson traveled to Las Vegas to accept the 2013 National Demolition Award for Environmental Excellence at the organization's annual expo. The award was presented for the company's role in the Doyle Drive project in San Francisco, where a fleet of eight DB-60s helped the California Department of Transportation suppress dust from a massive highway demolition.

Because of its proximity to the Presidio, an historic national park that remained open to the public during demolition, the contract called for a dust control plan to prevent all visible dust from leaving the project boundaries while work was underway.

"I was particularly impressed by the range of the unit, and the relatively low noise level during operation," said C-DOT Resident Engineer Andrew Yan. "The ability to easily mobilize and relocate the units as needed was also a big advantage on this job."

DustBoss in the News

Mining Magazine
DCT was highlighted in a feature article in the December issue of Mining Magazine, a 2-page summary of the successful dust suppression effort at Linwood Mining in Davenport, Iowa.

The company uses a DB-60 to control fugitive particles from its limestone processing operations, helping to eliminate 10-12 hours per month of downtime from excessive dust. Production levels have risen as a result, and the company no longer struggles with over-saturated material that had been an issue with previous control methods.

The production staff also reports a noticeable improvement in product quality from eliminating the over-watering common to hand-held dust control efforts, which often create a muddy consistency that attracts contaminants and complicates handling and processing.
